Today I wanted to share with you the best side hustle that I have found to date. One that you can make money from while you’re sleeping if you put the work into it. It is called Merch by Amazon. This will be a 5 part series where I will go into detail on everything you need to know to get started. This is a side hustle that has the potentially to create a large enough income stream to retire early.
What Is Merch by Amazon?
Merch by Amazon started in 2015 as a way for Amazon to attract app developers to their vast ecosystem by allowing these developers to design, and upload branded t-shirts to Amazon’s marketplace that are then sold, produced, and shipped by Amazon.
You collect a commission for every single sale with no worries of customer service, upfront costs, or returns as Amazon handles everything for you. It’s the ultimate Print on Demand opportunity for just about anyone!
Merch by Amazon quickly attracted people far and wide from completely different markets, professions, and avenues and continues to grow at a rapid pace. The demand for Merch by Amazon exceeded Amazon’s expectations which brought many challenges to the platform and pushed them to move to “Application Only” which is where it remains as of now.
If you haven’t signed up for an account, keep reading and follow the instructions below to give yourself the best chance of being accepted as quickly as possible. The wait to get accepted into the platform may be long, but the opportunity is well worth it. The amazing thing is they have just extended the products that you can print your designs on to hoodies, sweatshirts and long sleeve t-shirts.
I don’t have to tell you how hugely popular Amazon is, I’m sure you’re already well aware. So the fact that you can tap into their MASSIVE customer base without paying a dime is pretty amazing.
When I first heard about Merch by Amazon, I almost thought it sounded too good to be true. But I decided to give it a go and I sold my first t-shirt only 2 days later. You can set your own price and your profit margin (Royalty) will change based on that.
The Merch by Amazon program really is an amazing way to earn a passive income. It requires you to apply and join a waitlist before you can start selling t-shirts. It took me about 8 months of waiting to get through the backlog and get access. I intend to keep you all updated on the progress each week and hopefully will inspire you to join me in building another income stream.
If this sounds like your kind of side hustle you can request for an invitation on Merch by Amazon.
Click on the “Request Invitation” button, and you’ll be prompted to sign in or create an Amazon account. Go ahead and do that.
Click “Agree” on the Terms of Service, and then you’ll be presented with the application page.
Now, in order to improve your chances of being accepted into Merch by Amazon as quickly as possible I recommend you take the time to fully fill this application out…
Don’t leave any stone unturned!
Make sure you include your Name or a Business Name.
Include a Website or a link to your portfolio such as RedBubble (create an account and upload a few designs before you apply for Merch if you don’t have an existing website to use).
Fill out the Additional Information field explaining how excited you are to bring your unique design skills, expertise, and knowledge to the Merch by Amazon platform.
Again, make sure you take the time to craft a good message here and show that you have design experience and that you care (you’ll have experience soon enough). It’s vital in making sure your application stands out.
You can refer to the image below for inspiration on your application.
When you finish filling out the application form go ahead and click the “Send Request” button. You’ll see a page that looks like this:
Now that the application process is over you’ll have to wait to be accepted. You’ll receive an email when that day comes.
I’ve had several friends follow this process of applying and most of their accounts were approved within 3 months. However, there’s no guarantee on how long it will take for your application to be approved.
